I'm Katherine on paper, Kaye growing up, stuck with spelling Kaich to strangers, and called by many other names by circumstance. I love animals, especially my Sharpei Bruce, eating and cooking, singing and performing, occasionally knitting, breathing in new places, CrossFit, Super Mario Brothers, and my small, filtered circle of family and friends 💛

Coffee with a view

4 New Faves: Baguio in July

After foiled plans to go to Bangkok (the forecasts predicted daily thunderstorms) and Bali (late booking during peak season made everything absurdly expensive), we decided on a more practical destination that we were sure to enjoy even with minimal planning. Ry and I drove up to Baguio for his short, and only, vacation leave of the year. Not wanting to just replicate our previous trips, we asked friends who live in or frequent the mountain city for new things to try. The response was a list of food, breweries, viewpoints, and mountains to visit… too long for our measly 2 […]

Still Here

Hello. I am alive. I’ve been busy, living. I didn’t want May, my most favorite month, to pass without a word. A proper post is due very soon. After I finish the book I’m reading. Meanwhile, I am here, and I’m alive, and I’m living.

Aside from wishing I were still somewhere else, experiencing new things every day, I came home to a city that’s just about to take a break for the Holy Week. Things are moving slowly, and there’s no urgency to be productive just yet. BUT what’s to stop me from trying new things just because I’m back home? […]

Dresden for a Day

Several blogs helped me narrow the choices down to Spreewald, Leipzig, Hamburg, Saxon Switzerland, and Dresden. All of them looked gorgeous in the springtime, thanks to all the featured photos; none of them advertised winter. What made me decide Dresden over Hamburg and the rest were 1. it was the shortest distance by bus, 2. its compact downtown area is completely accessible by walking, and 3. it had the best (warmest and driest) weather forecast for the day.
